New Orleans' Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") was begun by the French in the 1740s with grand balls marking the end of Carnival season, on the eve of Lent. However, as befits its origins in the Carnelevamen - the debauched "farewell to flesh" - from early days it was known for cavorting, outrageous costumes, drinking and general bacchanalia. It has developed into a unique celebration, featuring street processions, elaborate private affairs, lots of good music and food!

Rainbow Promotions brings you the very best in local and national talent for your Mardi Gras celebration. However, be sure to book early as many of these acts have limited availability!

Balloon Wizardry Of Ben Edoff -
create a touch of Mardi Gras excitement as Ben performs wonders taking ordinary, inflated balloons and magically twists them into alligators, bees, crowns, dogs, elephants, flowers, giraffes, horses, hats, monkeys on palm trees, parrots, reindeer, snakes, unicorns, and other zany creations! Then these fun creations are given away to the spectators.

King Cakes - No Mardi Gras is complete without this oval-shaped bakery delicacy, which is a cross between a coffee cake and a French pastry that is as rich in flavor as it is in history. It's decorated in royal colors of PURPLE which signifies "Justice" GREEN for "Faith" and GOLD for "Power." These colors were to resemble a jeweled crown honoring the Wise Men who visited the Christ Child on Epiphany. In the past, such things as coins, beans, pecans or peas were hidden inside each King Cake. Today a tiny plastic baby is the common prize. At a party, the King Cake is sliced and served. Each person looks to see if their piece contains the "baby." If so, then that person is named "King"; for a day, and bound by custom to host the next party and provide the King Cake! We get ours shipped overnight directly from the best suppliers in New Orleans!

Mardi Gras Party DJ's keep things lively with authentic music by the Wild Magnolias, Buckwheat Zydeco, Beausoleil, Professor Longhair, Zachary Richard, James Booker, ReBirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, Monk Boudreaux & the Golden Eagles, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tuts Washington, and a whole lot more. Great fro providing atmosphere music where budgets for live bands may be limited - but not the fun!

Mardi Gras Beads & Throws - The throwing of trinkets to the crowds was started in the early 1870s by the Twelfth Night Revelers, and is a time-honored expectation for young and old alike. In 1884 (over 100 years ago!), Rex started using medallions instead of trinkets. These medallions are represented by today's doubloons. These doubloons are aluminum and anodized in many different colors. Order your official Mardi Gras Beads and Throws from us today!
